I got into the pet care industry because I love animals. Pure and simple. I grew up with a lot of pets and have never been without one in my life. I guess you could say they’ve always been there for me.
Before getting into pet care, however, I was a nurse taking care of humans for a number of months. Then I realized I prefer helping animals and made the switch.
I also have dogs of my own: Piper the chihuahua, Spiro is a lab/hound mix, and I have a Queensland/Pitbull named Bowser.
Apart from my love of animals, a fun fact about me is that I’m a proud sci-fi nerd! I love cheesy sci-fi movies and books. Dune is definitely my favorite!
In this industry, I love how we get to do a little bit of everything. I also love how technology and techniques are always evolving so I’ll never stop learning new things.
Something I’ve learned working at Pawsh is that every pet is unique. They all have different personalities, likes, and dislikes just like people do!
Of course I have fur-babies of my own. There’s Browny, Coketa, Pinguica, Manchitas, and Chiquita.
A fun fact about me is that I like to play football! I started watching it when I was little and taught myself the game by watching it. When my brother started playing it, he’d practice the drills by tackling me so I just learned how to play.
Hey everybody, my name’s Emily and I’ve been a veterinary assistant at Pawsh Place for the last 3 months.
The biggest reason I got into petcare is to give animals a voice, and help them to the best of my ability.
During my 6 years as a vet assistant, I have learned that not only do we treat the animals, but we treat the clients as well.
I also have a couple of fur-babies of my own: Peanut Butter and Arlo!
A fun fact about me is that I learned taekwondo in the back of a WalMart supercenter! Pretty cool, huh?
Hey all, I’m Lindsey. I’ve been a receptionist on Pawsh’s front line for two years. Working here is great because it’s in my home town, it’s close to my house, and I love the people I work with as well as learning new things about animals and being around them. Plus, I enjoy helping as much as I possibly can, interacting with people, and being busy. It reminds me we’re doing something good.
For me, I can’t imagine my life without an animal in it. They bring you a certain type of joy that people can’t. They’re always happy to see you, and they’re there to make you feel better and happy. They become your family. In a lot of ways, they’re like a child you have that never becomes self-sufficient. You have to take care of them every day, you love them, and build that bond that some people don’t have. That’s why I love my 3-legged Goldie, Billie, so much.
A fun fact about me is that I’m a really good cook. Ribs, fried chicken, dessert, you name it. I just like to create.
Hi, my name’s April and I’ve been a receptionist here at Pawsh Place for the last 4 years. I live on 10 acres in Esparto with my wonderful husband and son. I’ve had too many animals to count over the years, but currently, I have just 2 dogs, 4 cats (2 are barn kitties), and 11 alpacas. That’s right, alpacas!
I’ve worked in the veterinary industry my entire life, spent 25 years as a vet assistant (I loved assisting with pet dental procedures!) or in reception. I’ve always loved animals too. In the 3rd grade, I brought home a stray collie and begged my mother to let us keep him. After trying to find his owner first, she finally agreed we could give him a home! I remember always having multiple pets growing up, they made our family complete. As a teenager, I fell in love with horses. A friend of mine had a stable and I would spend all my spare time there. I learned how to ride, train, and show horses in the arena. My favorite was an ex-racehorse named Ms. Bar Roni, but we called her Macaroni or Ms. Mac. I’ve always loved horses and they are some of my fondest teenage memories.
What I love most working at Pawsh are my coworkers. In the four years, I’ve worked here, this is the best time. We have the best people, we get along, and we have plenty of laughs to get us through the day. I also appreciate the pet care philosophies here and what we offer the pet community.
A fun fact about me is, well, I’m a little bit of a clown and like doing silly things for laughs. And, like I already said, I have 11 alpacas…and I love them all!
